Carnival Destiny to Key West and Cozumel Lately?

We are trying to book our first cruise, and we found a nice deal on the Destiny.
We read reviews that were not very positive but most of them were dated.

Is there anybody who went on this ship lately?
Please let us know before we strike.

Thanks a lot everyone.

Answer :
I can't comment specifically on Destiny, but I have sailed Carnival's older ships several times, some older than Destiny. They don't get the best reviews because they don't have the latest and greatest features found on new ships. No flowriders, no rock climbing walls, etc. That said, I think they are a perfect choice for a first cruise. They are low cost, and they have many features that are common to all cruise ships.

Carnival is on the value end of the cruise line spectrum, but we have always had fun on Carnival, had nice rooms, and received great service. I wouldn't hesitate to go Carnival for the first time, especially if the price is good. Later, once you've had more experience cruising, upgrade to a more expensive cruise if you want. By then you'll be able to make an informed decision, and decide if it's worth the extra money. Some people move to other lines and some stay with Carnival. They really are an excellent value and you'll have a great time.

Key West and Cozumel are both decent ports, in my opinion. Lots of cruises go to Cozumel, but it's not a bad choice, especially for first time cruisers.

If you have specific questions I did not answer, feel free to message me.

Good luck!

Answer :
The Destiny is one of Carnival's older ships, although I think it has been "refurbished" fairly recently. Don't know how you chose that ship/itinerary, but if you've never cruised before and haven't done any research about cruising, I suggest you check your library or bookstore for a book on cruising. It will give you an overview of the different cruise lines, ships and itineraries. There are a lot of variables from which you will need to choose before you can see a travel agent to book your cruise.

Also don't know where you've checked for reviews, but a great place to try is CruiseCritic.com. Click on "Reviews" to read a review from a pro and also check the "Member Reviews" for any ship/itinerary you're interested in. Click on "Cruise Styles" at the top of the page for info about the demographic that the different lines and ships appeal to. Click on "Boards" to find info about anything and everything about cruising from experienced cruisers.

Answer :
I was on Carnival Imagination last Oct. it had that same intinerary and was recently refurbished like the Destiny was. It was a GREAT time and we are now hooked on cruising. Don't let all the negative reviews scare you. Go and have fun!!

Is the cruise Carnival Destiny a good crusie for teens?

Its my 15th birthday and my family and my friends are going on a cruise with me.We were going to go on Royal Carribean Navigator but the price went up to $500 and we cannotttt afford that,so now we have to do Carnival which is only $199.Is this a fun cruise and would a wild teen like myself have fun?lol. Thankyou.

Answer :
Carnival Destiny is a good ship, you will have fun. Carnival has good kids clubs. You will be going into Club 02 with other kids from 15-17. See below for all the details of Club 02. Have a great time!

Club O2 (ages 15-17)
From the moment they step onboard, Club O2 teens are part of a cruise experience unlike anything else. Every activity and event -- like basketball, volleyball, ping-pong, pool parties and high-energy dance parties -- has been specially created with 15-17 year-olds in mind.

Club O2 daytime activities are designed to be a little more relaxed. Teens can hang out with their friends while watching a movie, listening to the latest music, playing video games or joining karaoke jam sessions. Carnival has even set up teen-only shore excursions so young adults can enjoy the sites and sounds of beautiful ports with their peers.

Many Carnival ships feature a dedicated lounge designed just for the Club O2 program. These hot spots feature comfy seating, video monitors, a state-of-the-art dance floor and an area to enjoy Coca-Cola products and other non-alcoholic specialty drinks.

Club O2 Directors are hired and trained to spark the interest of the teens and get them involved. Each director brings their own unique style to Club O2. Their motivation and dedication to the program ensures every teen's cruise experience is unlike any they have ever had before. They are hosts, entertainers and often DJ's for the teens.

Activities for Club O2 may include:

* Board Games
* Card Games
* Music Hangs
* Theme parties
* Lido Deck Activities
* Reality Games Shows
* Trivia and scavenger hunts
* Pool Parties

Younger teens will only be allowed in the onboard disco until 10:45pm. After 11:00pm, any guests under the age of 18 must leave the disco. The Camp Carnival staff will coordinate late night activities for guests 17-years-old and younger. Activities may include a late night movie, Karaoke, "Swim Under the Stars", etc. Program activities and age groups are subject to change.

Hope I helped!

Answer :
Definitely! I went on a Carnival cruise in August and a Royal carribean cruise in November... and well I really wasn't sure which one I liked better!
And are you really asking if Carnival is a fun cruise?? They aren't called the Fun Ships for nothing!
Though I guess, if you happen to have a really boring " cool" personality then yeahh it could be boring, but if your a fun person and your friends are too, then you'd have fun no matter what!

Does anyone know the prices for spa and salon treatments on Carnival Destiny cruises?

And, are tips included in the price or is that extra?

Thanks, xoxo

Answer :
This link will give you a pretty good idea. By the way, the spa usually runs a special on the last day or two of the cruise, and prices will drop a bit.

Good luck!

Answer :
Way expensive on board, and tips are not included.

What is the Drinking age on the Carnival Destiny?

I will be 18 on the cruise and my parents have no problem with me having a few. I have heard some things like when we get out to sea a certain distance i can drink or that my parents can sign a waiver. Someone help!! Thanks

Answer :
Generally, cruise ships follow the same laws as though they were on land in whatever port they have sailed from. Therefore if they sailed from Florida and the drinking age is 21 then there rules are 21 as well.

You will find this to be the same for very many of the rules.

Answer :
NOPE - Carnival does NOT have a waiver.
here's what they policy is:

Drinking Alcohol On Board

The minimum age for the purchase and/or consumption of alcoholic beverages in the bars, lounges and gift shops is 21 years of age. Carnival reserves the right to refuse the sale of alcoholic beverages to anyone. In the event that Bar/Restaurant/Gift Shop staff are in question that a guest is less than 21 years old, they shall request picture identification, prior to serving the drink or selling the bottle of liquor.

Answer :
You can do anything you want in your room with your parents' consent, but in public areas, no cruise line will serve you.
