My husband and I will be cruising Carnival Destiny 5 nights in September 2009 from Miami (Grand Turk, Half Moon Cay and Nassau). We intend to fly to Ft. Lauderdale (cheaper than to Miami, and Southwest Airlines doesn't go to Miami), stay in a hotel, and go to Miami the next day. Does anyone have any information regarding transportation from Ft. Lauderdale to Miami as an alternative to what the cruise lines offers at $30/person? Also, any other cruise ship info is much appreciated. This isn't a first cruise so I know about shortcuts to embarkation and debarkation. I'm rading Cruise Critic.com and haven't found my answer yet. Also, anyone from St. Louis going?
Thanks for the information...I take it the affordable cab is from Ft. Lauderdale area to the cruise terminal in Miami.
Can someone please give me the names of some hotels in Ft. Lauderdale airport area that would service not only the airport but also the cruise terminal in Miami? (even if there's a charge for transportation to the cruise terminal)
Answer :
It's only about a 15 minute cab ride. It really isn't far at all. The first time I had friends that had rented a car and done an everglade trip the week prior and they picked me up. The second time I took a cab and it was like $25 (I think 30 with tip) for the both of us. It depends on where your hotel is.
Many hotels offer shuttles as well. I've stayed in a hotel that offered free shuttles from the airport and cruise terminal and I've stayed in ones that offered shuttles to the cruise terminal for $10 a person. I don't think I've ever paid more than that for a shuttle service.
Free free to write me with questions. I see your "any other cruise ship info" but as it's not a first cruise, you probably don't need any packing info and you are already reading about shore excursions on cruise critic. That's the advice I normally give. Write me with a more specific question and I'll be glad to answer!
