I'd like to hear if anyone else has had the same experience.
I just returned from a cruise on Carnival Destiny that set sail Sept. 21, 2009 to the Bahamas. I had read negative reviews on cruisecritic.com regarding plumbing issues but had decided that many months had gone by, gave them the benefit of the doubt, and assumed the cruise lines would have solved the problem. NOT!!!
Read this cruisecritic review:
http://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreview…The person who wrote this review had used towels to soak up sewer backup water in his/her stateroom bathroom, reported the problem and no one responded. That's funny I did the same thing and experienced the same thing. I set sail two weeks after he/she did. The purser's desk failed to call for help when I went there in person to complain about the situation and was told help would be coming "Now."
Carnival Destiny has been having ongoing problems with plumbing failure causing sewage back ups into the bathrooms. You can read all about it on Cruisecritic.com. The problems go back to September 2008 AFTER the ship returned from a two-week dry dock.
If you've had problems with the ship and your reports were never addressed, contact Debra St.Amand, Guest Care, Carnival Cruise Lines at guestcare@carnival.com
All I got from the cruise line was a slew of apologies and nothing else. I am also in contact with another passenger who experienced the same problems in September 2008.
Answer :
I had something similar on the Carnival Paradise earlier this year. nothing backed up into my stateroom but parts of the outside deck smelled HORRIBLE at certain times. when I confronted the Assistant Cruise Director he simply said it was "a cruise thing"
I had read reviews about that on CruiseCritic but I decided to cruise anyways. the explanation is that since it's an older ship tons of plumbing problems plague it. you should also read about the pipe bursting in the dining room of the Carnival Paradise back in May 2009.
Answer :
We just got back from a cruise on the Destiny on Sat. (Oct 24) We had a problem with the water coming out of the drain in the bathroom and flooding the bathroom. It happened twice. The steward told us he called the plumbing department, but I'm not sure if he did or not. Other than that it was a great cruise.
