Carnival: Triumph, Ecstasy, Inspiration, Or Destiny ?

I've been on 2 cruises: Disney Magic & Carnival Imagination. I liked both probably carnival more just because of the atmosphere. (I know disney is a little better) I want to go on another this june with my Friend and 2 parents like 60 years old. My ship choices are: Carnival Destiny, Triumph, Inspiration, Or Ecstasy. What is your opinion on the best of those ? thanks!

Answer :
I agree with Tropics Man. I like Carnival Inspiration best b/c of the layout. BUT....you've already been on that exact same ship. So perhaps you'd like to see a new one.

The Ecstasy is older. I have been on the Destiny and I didn't care for it very much. The layout is the most difficult of all the Carnival ships. So Inspiration is my favorite but if you want to see a different ship (and one that is much bigger and newer) I'd go with Triumph.

Answer :
I have been on the Imagination, Inspiration and the Valor (similar to the Triumph). The Valor was nice because at the time it was brand new, but it had way too many passengers. The lines were long and everything felt crowded. The Ecstasy is one of Carnival's oldest dingiest ships. I wouldn't even want to try it. I really enjoyed everything about the Imagination and Inspiration.

Answer :
I have been on the Carnival Imagination before and the Triumph. Personally I liked the Imagination better because of the layout around the pool area. I liked lounging on the same level as the pool right next to the pool bar area..I'm not much for tier seating like the Triumph has. There was also WAY more chair hogs on the Triumph..I sort of looked at that as a way to get a free Carnival towel for a souvenir..lol.

Answer :
Don't choose Ecstasy....its a drug.

All the carnival cruise ships are pretty much the same thing, I went on Triumph before, and Destiny as well. I didn't notice much of a difference in staff work, food, camps, cows and etc.

Any Recent Travelers on Carnival Destiny?

Going on a cruise in May with my wife on the Carnival Destiny, staying in a balcony room. Eastern Caribbean. Anyone been on the Destiny lately, what was it like? This will be our first cruise ever. Please try to give good and bad, don't just write that it all sucked please. Unless is really did :-)

Answer :
ive gone on the destiny i think it wuz, in 2006. it was a pretty nice cruise. the food in the dining room was amazing. all the waiters were very kind to us. the pool was small, but very relaxing. so was the hot tubs. you are going to love the shows that they have there. depending on the shows, you can see yourself on tv throughout the open corridors live or the next day. i remember the guy on the piano by the bar. he was amazing. very talented. the parties were great, i had such a great time at them. they didn't start until like 11pm because the teenagers have their little parties before the adults do in the same club. your going to love the balcony rooms. they are really open and spacious. it has a really nice homey feeling to it. so overall, the carnival destiny is a great ship. i dont have anything bad to say about it at all. so have fun and make the most of it! :)

What are some cool things to do on the carnival destiny?

im gonna go on one in a couple of days and was wondering what there was to do.

Answer :
It's kind of on Ferris Bueller's Day Off. The list of what there is not to do is smaller than what to do. We have already gotton bored of the stage shows and hang out on the Lido Deck most of the time. Water Slide, hot tubs, pool, stuffing yourself, sitting at the outdoor bar and just enjoying the sea while thinking of those poor bastards back in North Dakota. LOL

I have been on this same ship twice and the same cruise. The last time was in May of 2006. This is one of Carnival's largest ships and although it is older now, it is still a great trip. I was on it when it was only one year old back in 2001 and could tell that it wasn't the same in 2006 but you will not be disappointed.
Grand Caymen is beautiful and I would opt for the sight seeing of the beach, the scuba diving is out of this world there, and the downtown area is mainly jewelry stores as this is the same island where money is laundered famously known. I actually went on this planned trip to a place called Hell there and it was not the best choice as there is better things to do there.
I have a feeling you are going to Ocho Rios in Jamaica. If so, do not miss out on Dunn River Falls. You can take a cattamaren tour there from the boat or a taxi drive away. The only thing I hated about the stops were that they are not long enough and you don't have much time on any of the stops to do all you would want to. The last time instead of paying for one of the boat planned tours, I knew I already wanted to revisit Dunn River Falls so I just got a taxi and went there and had more time to stay there than the bus tour offers.
When you dock in Grand Caymen, there are priate ships that take you to the actual port from the ships. It is beautiful so have your camera ready before you ever get off the ship.
Remember that any liquor you purchase by the bottle will not be allowed in your room and only given to you the day you return to the states to end the trip. That is there way of making big bucks off the alcohol since they don't charge for the food.
They have two huge dinning rooms and I'm sure you've already picked your dinning hour. They assign you a particular dinning room and table and even the other people that will be at your table for the entire trip.
Save your spending money on gift items for Jamaica as you can't beat the prices. They do negotiate so don't pay the price they first offer you on anything. You will need cash for this part of the trip anytime you are at port. If you run out of cash, don't worry as they have ATM's on the ship.
Be prepared if you like to dance and party the night away to stay at the nightclub that is open until 4AM and usually every night there is an after party until about 6AM. I had more fun with very little sleep the entire time I was on the ship each night. I'm not usually a drinker but I did love to dance the night away.
If you are female and are traveling with female companions, please be careful at night in the hallways to your cabin. It is safe but late at night when the party is going, sometimes you can meet some shady characters so always stay together and do not allow any female to be alone at night walking the hallways of the cabin areas.
Most of the interior rooms are small. It is there for you to sleep and relax but not much moving around room. I stayed both times in suites with balconys and even the upper grade suites are not very large. They do provide a safe that runs off of one of your own credit cards to lock and unlock. I would recommend using it for your valuables.
If you want to know anything else, please send me a private message through here and I will respond.
I had the best time of my life the last time I went and also think about signing up for swimming with the dolphins in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. That was an experience I will never forget.
Everyone enjoys different things. It is up to you to decide whether this is for relaxing or for running your butt off until you drop if you want to.
They also have a botanical garden trip in Jamaica. There is shopping when you are exiting Dunn River Falls.
I found the people of Jamaica to be the most beautiful, most spiritual people I've ever met in traveling. I want to go back there and have decided after two cruises that next time I will fly directly to Jamaica I loved it so much. The water is so clear and beautiful also in both Grand Caymen and Jamaica.
I'm envious...
I hope you too have the best time of your life.

Answer :
Bring a highlighter for the things to do list each day. Eat in the dining room as much as you can and order whatever you want. Bring extra hangers for the closet it you can it helps to store your stuff. Don't go to Jamaica alone a crowd is better. Don't wander off into back streets. (I personally skip this port) Grand Cayman is wonderful. The Stingray tour here is the best. Snorkeling here is a hit if you have ever seen the movie "The Firm" they spoke of hamburger reef, you will find that here. Bring a power strip for your plug ins and don't use your cell phone unless you have set it up in advance for international travel or are prepared to pay 2.99 PM and up for service Have fun it will be the best time of your life.

Answer :
I'm 15 and I've been on four cruises, and they are the best vacations imaginable. Here's a list of tips, plus you can email me with other questions.
1. Enjoy the food. Chances are, there's several cafes and buffets that are almost pretty much all the time. Cruises are not the time to count calories. Cruises are a time to order the creme brulee AND the cheesecake for dessert.
2. Dress appropriately. I HATE showing up to dinner looking nice and seeing people in tank tops and shorts. In the dining room there is a dress code, and you can find the specifics on the website. Most nights you can wear ncie pants and a nice top or a simple dress, but here will probably be a formal night where a party dress is appropriate. Check the event papers you get every morning to see the evening's dress code. And remember, no matter what, no jeans or tee-shirts in the formal dining room. Ever.
3. Meet people! Definitely hang out in the teen club, especially the first night. This summer I met a great group of people who I hung out with for the whole cruise. Don't be shy!
4. Do stuff! The days are crammed full of activities, so take advantage of them. It could be rock climbing in the morning, TV trivia in the afternoon, and a dance party at night, plus so much more! This works well in coordination with number 3.
5. Have fun. No matter what, remember you're on vacation!

Answer :
At Grand Cayman, I recommend swimming with the sting rays. That's a really fun excursion. You get to swim with them and you can even feed them and hold them if you want.

As for your stateroom, I recommend either bringing a night light or leaving the bathroom light on with the door open a crack, because interior rooms can get quite dark with all the lights out. This should be done so no one get's hurt walking around when the lights are out (day or night). Also, keep in mind that stateroom do not have clocks. Someone should bring one so you know what time it is when you wake up in the morning.

The Destiny is a great ship. I was on her several years ago. You'll have a good time.

Answer :
Yes...you will want to meet as many people as you can as early as you can.

This is easier than you might think. First, try to go to the first Dinner. Ask to be seated at the large round tables (8 people). This is where most of the meeting of new friends take place. Make an appointment to meet up with them the next day at a designated spot on the ship. This will lead the likelihood of all of you doing shore excursions together.

Once you begin to feel as you if you belong then you will thoroughly enjoy yourself.

Also....attempt to take in as many shore excursions as possible. Take part in all on-board activities as possible.

No doubt you are headed for a most memorable journey!

Answer :
In Jamaica, whether it be Ocho Rios or Montego Bay, Be sure to get to Margaritaville. As far as bringing liquor back on board while in port. Put it in your water bottle and just carry it with you. If the liquor is colored, put it in a pop bottle.
