Which cruise ship is better, carnival destiny or rc navigator of the seas?

I am going to be in my late teens when I go on this 5 day western caribbean cruise in April 2009. The itinerary for both cruises are the same yet the carnival cruise is so much cheaper so I was wondering which cruise would be the better choice.

Answer :
I've never been on any RCCL ships, but have heard good things about them. I've been on Carnival 3 times and Princess once. There is certainly nothing wrong with Carnival. If Carnival is less money, I'd safely say it's the better deal. The amenities are about the same.

Answer :
I was on the Destiny last Feb and had a great time I was a great itinerary.. the ship is old and you can see her age she is not trashed or anything like that it is just that the decor is so 90's. The navigator is a newer class ship so it will have many differences but as far as it goes for me I don't book based on the ship I book based on the itinerary. all ship have the same type of entertainment... I would go with carnival if both the itineraries are similar that would give me more spending money...

Have fun!

Answer :
Navigator is a newer ship probably why the difference in the fare. Also, make sure you are comparing the same cabin types.

Has nobody traveled on Carnival Destiny in a while?

I am trying to find reviews for Carnival Destiny but it seems that nobody has been in the last few months or can be bothered to put their experiences online. Can anyone share experiences from this cruise or point me to where I can find recent reviews? Thanks guys!

oh, I should mention that my husband and I are leaving for this cruise Jan 5th.. our first cruise :-D

Answer :

There are four reviews from December, five reviews from November, and more that fifteen reviews from October.

Answer :
Well in Janurary I am going on a cruise on Carnival Liberty. The resteraunt we go to put it up. The owners went on the same ship, Carnival Liberty, and said it was great and they are going again. So it is most likely good. Go to www.carnival.com to see more onfo like the ships floor plans. I would think Carnival Destiny would be a great cruise ship too. =}

Carnival Destiny - What is free and what is not?

On July 27 I'm going out on a one week vacation with my girlfriend. As you know the economy is kinda tight, but we decided to go anyway on the Carnival Destiny Cruise trough the Carribean. I was just wondering, in this cruiseline, what's free? And what things are not included? Is the food free? And if you wanted to have a nice time without spending a lot of money, what would you do? I'll really apreciate any help, thanks.

Answer :
Hello!

I've been on four Carnival cruises, so I'll try to help you out.

Most food is free. The only exception that I've found are the specialty desserts and shakes at the cafe. Everything else is free. There is a buffet and dining rooms are available to eat in. On Carnival, there is 24-hour free pizza and ice cream available as well.

Spa treatments are not included.

Alcoholic drinks and specialty drinks are not included. Neither is soda. These beverages are much more expensive onboard then at home. If you drink a lot of soda, a soda card is available for purchase onboard. You get unlimited soda for a set price.

The shows and activities are included, so do as many of those as you wish!

If you want to have a nice time without spending money, here are some activities you could do. Take your girlfriend dancing, either in the disco club or the jazz club one night. I'm sure she'd like it. Go see a show together. Lay out in deck chairs or go swimming together. If you have a balcony, sit out on your balcony and watch the water go by together. Just do little things that let her know you care.

If you don't mind spending a little money, check out the shore excursions for the ports you are visiting on Carnival's website. My family and I have found cheap excursions to do. Once you are onboard, you can still purchase excursions and sometimes the price is much better last minute, if you don't mind being without a plan.

Hope this was helpful!

Answer :
The carnival Destiny was the first cruise ship I was ever on and still one of my favorites.

Onboard you can enjoy meals in either of the two dining room as well as the deli counter (make sure you try one of the ruebens), lido deck buffett, poolside grill, and 24 hour pizza counter for free. Regular coffee, fruit punch, lemonade and tea or also free of charge.

Alcoholic beverages are an additional charge. You can view a full menu here. http://cruiserfaqs.com/wiki/index.php5?t…

all shows are completely free, if you want to do an excursion you will have to pay extra for those. Depending on how adventurous you are it may be a good idea to just rent a car and explore on your own. To really save money you can make use of public transportation available on most islands. They don't always adhere strictly to the schedule but usually only cost a dollar or two. Just make sure you do your research before you go.

I find the major onboard expense is alcohol and the major shore expense to be transporation/excursions. You can lessen the alcohol blow by smuggling booze onboard (although this is technically against the rules) and you can lessen the transportation blow by taking public transportation just make sure you are back on the ship in time.

You can spend as little or as much as you want on a cruise its up to you. My motto is to cruise cheap, cruise often so I'm a bit of an expert on the subject.

Answer :
My wife and I just took our first cruise too and when we booked our cruise were told that everything is included, meaning meals, buffet or dining room, and drinks like water and lemonade and tea, but soft drinks like coke and others are not, however you can buy a softdrink card that gives you the ability to get drinks off of that card without paying each time..It costs about $5 per day and is well worth it if you drink soft drinks..Beer, wine, and mixed drinks will cost you a whole lot of money..I think stayin sober is a good thing because you'll want to remember everything..Have a wonderful trip...If you order water at the dining room they will charge you $4.oo so always ask if they are going to charge for it.. Tap water is free, and just as good...

Carnival destiny?

How is this ship

Answer :
Despite being bigger, I did not like the Destiny as much as the smaller Inspiration. The layout was not as convenient to get around. The Destiny has a tiered pool area which doesn't allow the waitstaff to move around. Therefore its harder to get a waiter when you want to order. I also enjoyed the Inspirations more diverse international waitstaff. Ours was from Romania. Partly that might be due to the layout of the dining room. The Destiny was a lil overcrowded so our dining table was out in the hallway and we couldn't see when they were doing the dining entertainment. It was still enjoyable but I found the Inspriation to be better overall.

Definitely like what was suggested before read the reviews on cruisecritic. that is by far the best site. Our cruise on the Destiny was last summer and our intinerary also wasn't as favorable. It was out of San Juan and we were at a port the next morning St Thomas, next morning Dominica (which thankfully Carnival no longer sails to), next morning Barbados so I definitely learned that I perfer an itinerary where the first day is at sea to give me a chance to rest and not have to wake up early. Cruisecritic gives reviews of people just coming off the ship and having just done the shore excursion you are looking at. But also check out www.cruisemates.com and www.cruisereviews.com for other reviews.

With the Destiny, while an enjoyable experience, I learned bigger isn't always better. The better layout and better service seems to be on the smaller ships--though you don't get the over-the-top cruise experience of rock walls or surfing on them lol!

Answer :
I haven't been on the Destiny but I have been on the Valor which appears to be quite similar. The Destiny is an older ship but was updated 2 years ago. I had a very pleasant experience with Carnival, so hopefully you will too! Happy Cruising!

Answer :
I've not been on the Destiny since shortly after its first sailing. Back then, it was a pretty nice ship, but I'm not sure of the current condition. It is a little on the old side now and my last few cruises with Carnival has not been what it used to be, on all new ships.

Since I'm not much help with the particular ship, I will include a link to some reviews for you to look over.
